Sir Mark Elder conducts the Hallé Orchestra in a programme of Brahms, Wagner and Sibelius.

Pianist Paul Lewis joins the orchestra for Brahms’s First Piano Concerto, which displays some of the composer’s deepest emotions despite being written early in Brahms’s career.

Brahms’s epic is matched by Wagner’s tempestuous overture to his opera The Flying Dutchman and the concert will finish with Sibelius’s Symphony No. 5.

Presented by Martin Handley live from Nottingham’s Royal Concert Hall.
